Classic Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- Gradually blend in the flour mixture.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are just barely golden.
- Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
