Classic Sugar Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the flour mixture.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are just barely golden.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
